FAQ

Who are you guys?
Just a regular family of four, living in the northwest, looking for ways to enjoy the thing we do 3-5 times every single day: Eat!

How old are your kids?
Silly was born in June 2009 and was almost 3 when we started this blog. Valentine was born in December 2011 and was almost 6 months when we started this blog.

Whose plate is in the photographs?
It could be anyone's plate because when this blog started, Silly was already eating adult sized portions. Yep, our nearly 3 year old could pack it away. To be fair, she's always been in the 99% for her age with regards to height & weight, so she's a healthy girl who loves to eat. Also, and I have no idea if there is any truth to this, I'm told that a vegetarian diet requires more volume. So her portions would be smaller if they were more rich in animal protein. Again - not sure if that one is true, but it makes sense to us.

Where do you find the recipes you use?
Everywhere! We've got some tried and true recipe books that never steer us wrong, such as Veganomicon and any Moosewood cookbook. Also, any recipe by Ina Garten is pretty reliable. You can find her on Food Network website. Another trusted source is Post Punk Kitchen. They've come up with some fantastic vegetarian alternatives to traditional American meals. We're not afraid of using a mix though. We're huge fans of Pamela's Gluten Free pancake mix. We buy it in bulk and make muffins and waffles and cookies and pancakes with it. Lastly, my trusted Better Homes & Gardens cookbook. The one with the red and white checkered cover. Even when we are trying to make something vegan, we can use a recipe from there and simply substitute ingredients. I go there for quick breads and frosting recipes and other 'regular' foods.

Are the children really named "Silly" and "Valentine"?
Yes and no, but that's all you'll get about that one!
